Why: Sporty casual is just another look we should know how to create. It is very middle America, even though we catch glimpses of it over here (puffy vests….. unfortunate) because it’s good for running errands. The key is to create a relatively basic outfit, and add one piece that’s considered “sporty.”
Accomplishments: We dealt with horribly timed cold and rainy weather. Maybe it made it easier to wear leggings and jeans. The outfits were cute regardless of the weather, even if they did look more Spring or Fall than Summer.
Improvements: Staying fashionable. We need to work on keeping the outfits trendy and fashion forward. If you have to create an outdated, rushed, or sloppy look to fit the theme, take a step back and think outside of the box. Try something new. Google outfits to emulate.
Cutest sporty outfit was Vanessa in a ribbed dress and plaid.
Thursday’s People’s Choice goes to Vanessa!
Extra GRG point – Vanessa.
Outfit Suggestions: None today. The only comment I have is that April’s outfit is exactly how I picture girls from Chicago dressing. The puffy vest is a true white girl piece. And apparently I consider Chicago a white city.
Outfit Suggestions: Jena looked super comfy, but was more casual than sporty. A swap-out could have been Converse for Birks, and no jacket (even though it was a lil chilly.) Chelsey’s look might have been sportier without the scarf… The dress was a little too girly itself. I respect the decision to expand the shoe variety, but the Clarks weren’t enough this time around.
Cutest suburban outfit was Monica in the most High School outfit of all time.
Tuesday’s People’s Choice goes to Monica!
Extra GRG Point – Vanessa
Outfit Suggestions: Chelsey’s look would have been better suited with a straight denim jacket, although the one she chose was an interesting element. Vanessa’s look was cute and girly, but what would have made it sporty would have been a different top underneath her jacket… Maybe a baseball tee. Another option could have been the denim jacket around the waist. Was a little fancy, the sneakers kept it casual.
Cutest sporty outfit was Chelsey in mesh leggings and a flannel. She looked super sporty, but not like she was going to the gym.
Sunday’s People’s Choice goes to Chelsey!
Extra GRG point – Vanessa, Chelsey & Jena.
Outfit suggestions: April looked relaxed in a hoodie and a dress, but one more element would have taken it up a notch, like a necklace. Jena’s look actually could have been completed without the sweater around her waist. The sweater cluttered the sporty look. Vanessa’s outfit also would have been sportier without the plaid around her waist. Sometimes a third (or fourth) piece distracts from the outfit rather than adding to it.
